Just Peachy

I am always setting myself up for utter chaos! Just before Josh left on his trip I picked up 10 boxes of Palisade peaches! I have spent countless hours peeling, slicing and canning peaches. I have about 60 jars, 10 prepared bags of frozen peaches (for our old family peach cobbler recipe) and i have dozens of quart size freezer bags full of peaches for fresh fruit protein shakes. I still have 4 more boxes of peaches and i have been practically shoving them down the kids throats. Needless to say i am so sick of peaches i probably wont even want to serve them up, ha!

Free At Last!

Remember that part in Nemo where he jumps all over his dad because he is so excited to start school? That was the scene at my house this morning at about 5 a.m.Yes, Kayela was a little bit excited for her first day of school. She woke everyone up with a different customized Kayela style sort of song and we couldn't help but wake up cheery. Needless to say we were ready in plenty of time to get out the door and to our designated spots on time.

Once we got to school she decided to go mute on me and wouldn't say a word to anyone. The teacher even asked me "is she comfortable with other kids?" to which I sarcastically remarked "she better be she has 5 brothers and sisters, although she is the youngest so I really wouldn't know..ha!" funny thing is the teacher then turned to kayela and said "do you have 5 brothers and sisters?" and Kayela shakes her head and says "no" hahaha! It was pretty funny I was looking at her like she was crazy so she told the teacher "I only have 3 sisters and 2 brothers" She was probably thinking my mom is lying to my teacher on my first day of school. That's the thinking of a 4 year old I guess, very literal.

When I picked her up she was sitting in her little circle of friends. She looked very mature with her hands folded nicely in her lap (why can't I get her to do that?) I thought they had a clown in visiting but it was just the afternoon teacher's helper. Really, he dresses like a clown and if I could have snapped a discrete picture I so would have just so i could post it to the blog!:)

So I am a free woman during the day now. I am only working Tuesdays and Thursdays so my Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are just for me...woohoo!

Soccer Star

Our weekend has pretty much consisted of soccer and more soccer. Although we only had 2 games they were on opposite ends of the earth so it was pretty time consuming. Saturday the game was in Arvada and it was the first "real" game of the season and we played a team much more advanced than us. The first half we got slaughtered and played pretty poorly as the girls tried to work together as a new team. Amazingly enough they came out strong the second half and even scored a goal! EmmaLeigh played center mid for the first half and then moved back and played defense for the first time. she did extremely well and the big joke was if Josh and I had put her in football camp over the summer! She is very aggressive when it comes to playing soccer. They ended up losing 4-1 but really started to work as a team by the end of the game. Today we played in Golden and the girls were on fire! They had great teamwork, awesome ball handling and some great defense. Emma played center mid and did a great job. They won 3-0 against a team that again was ranked higher.She just smiles the whole time she is on the field, we love watching her play.

I am single parenting it this week because Josh is out of town on business so my mornings should be pretty interesting. Kayela starts school tomorrow so i am getting not 5 but 6 kiddos up and out the door by 7:45...wish me luck! ha!

One on One

Kayela and I were all alone today. It was a little strange and reminded me of when Emma was little. she got her fill of words in before 10 a.m. and she was actually quiet for the first time in her life when we walked up to school at 2:45. I think she was even a little shocked that she had nothing to say. I just listened to her ramble on and on and on.... ha!

We had a little private date at the park where she was pretty much lost not having anyone telling her where she was going to play. She kept asking me "mom what should i do now?" It was a little ironic that noone else was even up there when we went so she had the whole playground to herself. She goes back to Aunt Tiffany's tomorrow for the day so she will have plenty of little people to boss around again.

My grandparents are in town from Kansas so everyone came over last night to enjoy their company. It was a little wild with all the cousins but always a good time. The kids so enjoy getting to see their "greats" and we know we are so blessed that they are able to have that relationship in their lives.
