Made for T.V. Movie

Strange thing happened a few days ago. Josh received a random email from one of his half brothers. On the surface it doesn't sound that crazy but once you hear the whole story I think you will agree, we could be a Made for t.v. movie.

Josh grew up without a father. He was raised by his grandmother mostly and believed his dad was the same as his brother,Jason and his sister, Tiffany. When he was 13 it was sprung on him that his father was not the same as theirs. Although he'd never met either man this was a shock for him. He proceeded to contact his dad and it was basically a dead end for him. His father had married and had two sons but was divorced at this time. Mike, the man Josh was told was his father was really not fully convinced of this fact. Josh didn't contact him for many years after this.

Seven years ago Josh decided that he was curious to see this man who his mother had told him was his father and we tracked him down. We bought plane tickets on a whim and left Emma and Kaidon for the first time for 9 whole days! I was pregnant with Mihya and not feeling really great but was mostly just worried about the outcome of this whole situation. Long story short we showed up on this poor unsuspecting man's doorstep. Josh just wanted to see him... nothing more! He had never even had a picture! Well, needless to say, it was very clear that Mike was Josh's dad. They look very similar and have some of the same body language. Mike was very kind and invited us to dinner to meet his other two sons. (can you imagine finding out you have a brother at 22 and 24?) Scott and Mark. Scott is the older of the two boys and he welcomed us like he'd known about Josh for years. He met up with us several times in our 9 days exploring California. We only spent 2 evenings with Mike and although he was very kind I think we somehow knew this would not ever turn into a "relationship" and that was OK. Mark on the other hand was not as welcoming. He was not rude or outwardly opposed to this but he definitely was not going to extend a warm welcome. As we remember he did keep asking "how do you really know?" type questions which clearly was understandable considering the circumstances.

In the past seven years we have heard from Scott only three times but have heard nothing from Mike or Mark until a few days ago. Mark sent Josh an email letting him know that he had married, moved to Seattle and had four children. Josh was beside himself excited. (it's not like Josh sat around waiting for this day but I know in his heart he sure wanted it to come!) He became a christian shortly after the arrival of their first child and is now a youth pastor. (funny thing is that Josh was a youth pastor for three years) Not knowing Josh I am sure it was a shock to him when Josh didn't email him back but called him that evening. They had a long conversation and sent pictures to each other. Now, they both seem to be committed to building this relationship.

So, like I said....getting an email from a half brother...not too exciting! Hearing the history and then realizing a call from a half brother....could be a made for t.v. heart warmer!
